Rohde & Schwarz Validates LTE Test Cases at GCF

Rohde & Schwarz claims to be the first and only test and measurement equipment supplier to successfully validate LTE test cases with the Global Certification Forum (GCF). A first set of test cases of the 3GPP 36.523 specification were presented and approved for validation on the R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester.

The T&M company recognizes that LTE is one of the most challenging and fastest-growing technologies in the field of mobile communications, so it is therefore crucial for the industry to have test instruments available that support the 3GPP defined test cases for LTE mobile phones. Rohde & Schwarz validated the first test cases at the GCF CAG#21 meeting in Sophia Antipolis, France, marking a milestone in the commercial roll-out of LTE networks.

The R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester is the universal tester for testing the air interface of wireless devices. It is a GCF and PTCRB approved platform for conformance tests in line with 3GPP HSPA+ and LTE test specifications. Also, automation of test campaigns and optional combination with RRM and RF conformance test systems allow flexible and efficient use of the test equipment.

“We are very proud to be the first T&M equipment manufacturer who can offer GCF certified test cases for LTE,” said Michael Altmann, Head of Product Management for mobile radio testers at Rohde & Schwarz.
