Huber + Suhner Grants License to Tyco

Huber + Suhner has agreed that in the future its patented ODC fiber-optic connector range will be marketed under license by Tyco Electronics as a second source supplier.

Following on from the company’s existing alliance with the French electronic components manufacturer Radiall SA, this latest agreement is a tie in with another large corporation, ensuring global product availability. It is seen as a move towards satisfying the demand for Huber + Suhner’s ODC products in the booming fiber-to-antenna market.

The new alliance with Tyco, along with that of Radiall, which is headed by Huber + Suhner, guarantees customers high product availability. The ODC products of all three technology companies are compatible with one another and perform to equivalent high standards. Huber + Suhner’s CEO Urs Kaufmann commented, “This strategic partnership further supports the global breakthrough of our new innovative ODC product family.”

As well as the emerging fiber-to-antenna market the innovative optical connector solution has been successfully deployed for industrial communication applications due to its robustness and technical performance. In the last two years ODC has become the global standard for fiber-optic connections for mobile communication systems including 3G (W-CDMA, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA), WiMAX and 4G (LTE).
