WJ Communications Products Join the TriQuint Portfolio
WJ Communications merged with TriQuint May 22, adding a wide-ranging RF product selection to TriQuint Semiconductor's line-up for networks infrastructure markets. The WJ selection of gain blocks, mixers, converters, amplifiers and related devices complements TriQuint's selection of GaAs-based PAs, LNAs, SAW and BAW filters and integrated modules for mobile base stations, PtP radio, BWA / WiMAX, GPS and numerous other communications applications. "Customers benefit because the merger brought many complementary devices to TriQuint's existing line-up. In the area of mobile base stations, TriQuint now offers the most comprehensive selection of RF devices available," remarked Paul Gilgallon, TriQuint Product Marketing Director. TriQuint's New Gallium Nitride Devices
TriQuint is pleased to announce the release of its first gallium nitride (GaN) discrete die-level power amplifier family for a wide range of defense, aerospace, base station and other networks system applications. The devices, TGF2023-xx, range up to 90W in total output power and offer 55% power added efficiency (PAE) for energy savings and smaller carbon footprints. GaN technology offers a new level of solid-state power to solve electrical consumption, size and weight problems for communications applications. Visit http://www.triquint.com/investors/press/dspPressRelease.cfm?pressid=320 for data sheet information — new device data is added weekly. For additional details about GaN discrete devices, contact: grant.wilcox@tqs.com or phone: +1-972-994-3939.
TriQuint's New Gallium Nitride Foundry
TriQuint's gallium nitride (GaN) Foundry is open for wafer starts in September, 2008. According to Product Marketing Director, Dr. Gailon Brehm, TriQuint wants to meet with companies interested in GaN designs as a step toward production in third quarter. The new service will target communications applications through the Ku frequency band. GaN-based amplifiers offer inherent advantages compared to other solid-state amplifier technologies including up to 2.5-times the power density of high voltage GaAs devices. For additional details about TriQuint's gallium nitride Foundry services, visit http://www.triquint.com/investors/press/dspPressRelease.cfm?pressid=320 or contact lisa.howard@tqs.com or phone: +1-972-994-3985.
TriQuint's New High-Voltage HBTs
Two new 2-stage, 28V HBT RF transistors will be released by TriQuint at the 2008 IMS MTT-S. These devices, ideal for use as pre-drivers and drivers in typical base station or repeater amplifier designs, were created in TriQuint's San Jose, CA design center, the former WJ Communications campus; WJ merged with TriQuint May 22. TriQuint's new AP631 (4W) and AP632 (7W) offer better efficiency and high linearity for next-generation multi-carrier 3G mobile infrastructure, saving power while incorporating two stages into a single package, which can save up to 12 sq. cm. of PCB area. Samples will be available in July 2008. TriQuint's New High Gain / Low Input Power Gain Block Amplifier
Greater efficiency continues to drive the needs of networks equipment manufacturers, so TriQuint is pleased to announce a new addition to its 5V gain block amplifier family. The new device, WJA1021, is highly efficient to help reduce electrical consumption. The device also requires no external matching components typical to other solutions and can therefore reduce customers' bills of materials. The WJA1021 provides +37 dBm OIP3 at 2 GHz and is available in a standard SOT-89 package. The new device is part of TriQuint's cascadable gain block family, offering designers flexibility and performance options tailored to individual needs. TriQuint's New High Linearity Converter with GaAs Mixer
TriQuint's new ML485 offers highly linear performance with an integrated gallium arsenide (GaAs) mixer and LO driver amplifier, all in an ultra-small MSOP-8 package. The device is also lead-free and RoHS compliant — making it a "green" product for next-generation designs. It offers market-leading linearity (up to 38dBm Input IP3) and integrated design for cellular and 3G / 4G wireless base stations and similar applications. The ML485 integrates a LO buffer amplifier on-chip to provide for operations directly from standard frequency synthesizers, requiring 0 dBm drive, drawing only 40mA of current. TriQuint's New Next-Generation Cable TV Amplifier
The TGA2806-SM builds on the successful heritage of TriQuint's TGA2803-SM, offering excellent performance for cable infrastructure applications as a gain block / transimpedance amplifier. The TGA2806-SM offers high output and excellent linearity, and comes in a standard 5x5mm QFN package for highly efficient thermal operation. Due to its excellent thermal performance, the TGA2806-SM can replace two similar amplifiers in conventional designs, thus reducing overall system costs and eliminating the need for the extra matching circuitry while freeing PC board space. The high degree of linear performance makes of the TGA2806-SM makes it well suited for QAM modulators for DOCSIS 3.0® applications requiring a low-cost packaged solution.
