FREE GaAs Class at EuMW
TriQuint is hosting a FREE 4-hour introductory GaAs class Wednesday, October 29. Dr. Rick Campbell, Professor of Electrical Engineering at Portland State University and former TriQuint Principal RFIC Designer, will discuss the latest trends, developments, cost advantages and design tradeoffs of building wireless applications in GaAs.

We're Proud of our 50-Year Heritage and Watkins-Johnson Foundation
WJ Communications Inc. is the commercial product descendent of Watkins-Johnson Company. Founded in 1957, technologists developed and manufactured devices for defense electronics and space communications systems. WJ has recently been acquired by TriQuint Semiconductor, a major supplier of high-performance RF modules, components and foundry services to the world's leading communications companies.

New Foundry Processes for Millimeter Wave and High Power Applications - TQP25, TQP15, GaN
TriQuint recently introduced three new foundry processes . The first two, TQP25 and TQP15 are 150mm GaAs processes designed for cost-effectively building millimeter wave applications and were developed from the same base technology as TQP13, a low-cost manufacturing process that incorporates a highly repeatable optically defined 0.13µm self-aligned gate pHEMT FET. TQP25 is an enhancement/depletion (E/D) process enabling levels of integration not typically available in this frequency range, and is designed to enable integrated solutions for linear, medium power applications like WiMax, and high throw count switches such as those used in rapidly growing 3G WCDMA mobile handset market. TriQuint's GaN foundry process offers customers 75mm wafers targeting power amplifier applications through the Ku frequency band.

New High-Performance Network Infrastructure Products

    a. Gallium Nitride Discrete PAs: TriQuint's family of GaN discrete die-level power amplifiers serves a wide range of base station, network infrastructure, defense and aerospace applications. The devices, TGF2023-xx , deliver up to 100W in total output power and offer 55% power added efficiency (PAE) for energy savings and smaller carbon footprints. b. New Packaged VSAT Amplifier: TriQuint's new TGA4906-SM leads the industry with its compact, single-chip design. The new packaged device is a 4 Watt Ka-Band fully monolithic HPA ideally suited for VSAT ground terminal applications. The device offers high-level integration and excellent electrical performance including high efficiency to reduce energy consumption and the need for heat dissipation. Contact information: info-networks@tqs.com

    c. Next-Generation Cable TV Amplifier: The TGA2806-SM builds on the successful heritage of TriQuint's TGA2803-SM, offering excellent performance for cable infrastructure applications as a gain block / transimpedance amplifier. The TGA2806-SM offers high output and excellent linearity. It comes in a standard 5x5mm QFN package for highly-efficient thermal operation. The device can replace two similar amplifiers in conventional designs, thus reducing overall system costs and eliminating the need for the extra matching circuitry while freeing PC board space. Contact information: info-networks@tqs.com

    d. New GPS Module for Next-Generation Designs: The leader in GPS SAW filtering is bringing a new level of integration to the market with the introduction of the TQM640002 in fourth quarter 2008. This high rejection GPS module will incorporate an E/D pHEMT GaAs LNA along with SAW filters in TriQuint's smallest 2-in-1 package. The module's overall 3x3mm dimensions make it ultra compact, ideally suited for wireless handset applications incorporating GPS. There's zero matching required for 'Plug-and-Play' simplicity. It's also flexible, working with 1.8V or 2.8V nominal supply voltages. Contact information: info-networks@tqs.com

    e. New 4W Base Station Amplifier: TriQuint's new AH420 is a 4W (P1dB) highly-linear amplifier requiring only 5V for operation. The new amplifier is one of the market's few 4W devices, and unlike most 4W solutions, the AH420 provides excellent performance without the expense of higher wattage or a negative supply, allowing customers to maintain a single voltage rail. This can lower overall system costs. This amplifier's high performance makes it ideal for repeater and femtocell applications. The AH420 will be available for sampling beginning December 2008. For product details, or to request a sample upon release, please e-mail info-networks@tqs.com; please put the part number in the subject line.

    f. New AH322 Offers Improved Gain, Efficiency: TriQuint's new AH322 amplifier offers high efficiency operation for power savings and high linearity for infrastructure applications such as MCPAs and repeaters. The new amplifier is designed for 5V operation and provides integrated bias control. The AH322 provides 14 dB gain at 2.14 GHz. TriQuint s new AH322 will be available for sampling beginning December 2008. For product details, or to request a sample upon release, please e-mail info-networks@tqs.com; please put the part number in the subject line.
